奢り

おごり【奢り】

1 〔ぜいたく〕 luxury; extravagance; (self-)indulgence.

●おごりにふける indulge in [be given to] luxury.

●おごりを極める have every luxury; live a life [in the lap] of luxury; eat [live off, live on] the fat of the land.

2 〔馳走すること〕 a treat 《for sb》.

●私たちは先輩のおごりでエスニック料理を食べた. Older members of the club treated us to a meal of ethnic food.

●これは僕のおごりだ. This is on me. | I'll get this (one). | This is my treat [《口》 shout]. | 〔会合で〕 This is my party.

・昨晩の芝居はだれのおごりだったのですか. Who paid for our theater tickets [seats in the theater] last night?
